Based in Berlin, the Charles Rosen Ensemble is a collective of young, international musicians dedicated to building a strong platform for contemporary music, and aspiring to render performances of both old and new music at the highest level. Co-founded in 2018 by Michael Cohen-Weissert and Tomoki Park, the ensemble’s mission is inspired by the legacy of American pianist and author Charles Rosen, whose conviction was, “it is not difficult music to which the public objects, but difficult music that is unfamiliar.” In this spirit, we strive towards an ideal in which audiences and performers unite in bringing “delight, sentiment and exploration” to a renewed appreciation of classical and contemporary music.
